Title: Cleaning the leather stropping wheel
Post by: Warpa on August 29, 2021, 09:54:28 PM
I just bought a .4 and .2 micron leather strop kit. Two days later I thought to myself what have a done! I have the diamond emulsion and a tormek leather wheel. How can I clean the tormek compound off the wheel so I can apply the emulsion?
I plan to use the current wheel that has only been used a handful of times with the .4 micron, then buy another to coat with .2 micron.

Marcus,
welcome to the forum!

The Tormek compound is a very versatile compound which works very well for deburring most steels.
Anything smaller than 1 micron is very fine and may not be the best choice for any steel.

That being said, brake cleaner seems to remove the oil and compound leftovers quite well.
We've had that here: https://forum.tormek.com/index.php?topic=1719.50
