Title: Honing Wheel -- It has a 'bump'
Post by: sominus on February 10, 2004, 09:22:16 PM
Jeff:

I bought my Tormek from you at the Houston show -- I'm the guy who was so interested in Kitchen knives.. :-)

Anyway... There's a noticeable 'tick' and 'bump' in the honing wheel at the seem where the strips of leather join... *VERY* annoying... Does this go away over time?

It should go away within the first hour of use.  Hopefully, you have watched the DVD, and have saturated the wheel with mineral oil, followed by a fairly generous application of honing compound and several minutes with a wide tool.  If the seam is still prominent after an hour of use, carefully sand it down with 80 or 100 grit sandpaper.
