Title: Free Stone Offer
Post by: bisonbladesharpening on March 02, 2020, 09:20:54 PM
I received an Email from an online sharpening supplies company that I use,
offering free stones for life ( up to 3 ) on purchase of new T8 or T4
Very interesting offer.
Best wishes,
Tim

It's actually thru Tormek (https://www.tormek.com/usa/en/about-tormek/news-feed/free-grindstones-for-life/),  (pdf), (https://www.sharpeningsupplies.com/pdf/tormek-promo-2020-march.pdf) so every seller (in the U.S. at least) should be offering it. ;)

(Do they come 'take you out' after 3)?  ;D

I was thinking about another Tormek due to laziness (changing of wheels, etc). Sounds like a decent deal. Thanks

This would have come in handy lately... Oh well.

Probably not (if you mean your broken stone)... for this to apply, you have to wear the wheel down...

QuoteShould your SG-250 wear down to ∅ 7" /178 mm, or your
SG-200 wear down to ∅ 6" /150 mm, the certificate will
entitle you to a new Tormek Original Grindstone free of
charge.

... and then ship it back to Tormek, to get a new one.

Hmmm on my T7 anything below 8" seriously interferes with the sharpening process satisfaction, given that my personal stone use is about ½" a year I don't think I would want to go 2 years of being slightly miffed at poor sharpening performance to get a free stone!

Think I would need a diamond grader and elastic band running 24 / 7 to eat the last 1" of stone  ;)

This would be a good incentive if you were buying a new unit.
