Title: Sharpening Plough Plane Irons
Post by: shakesZhuZhu on July 23, 2017, 02:38:01 AM
Hello,

I have several antique plough planes and would like to sharpen the sets ("harlequin") that each has, by using my T8 but because of their shapes the SE-77 does not seem to hold them correctly. Has someone been able to do this? Please note that I am very new to the T8 and have only sharpened some chisels and Record plane irons.

Welcome to the forum, shakes. Are your blades tapered (in thickness)? If they do not fit well in the SE-77 square edge jig, the platform jig should work. Use a blackmarker on the bevel, and check your progress with a small square.

Keep us posted.

If your irons are similar to those in the picture, than the SE-77 should be the suitable jig. Align the irons very carefully.
