Title: Goniostat jig
Post by: RichColvin on May 20, 2017, 06:33:20 AM
I'm looking to buy or make a Goniostat jig for sharpening fly cutters on the Tormek.  Looking for ideas.

Rich, Victorian Goniostat is surely a very nice and noble instrument.  :)

Whether it's convenient or not depends on how complicated your cutter profile is. In the example shown the cutter is a rod sharpened to point which can be accomplished in a simpler way also. On the other hand if you plan to sharpen your turning tools at arbitrary compound angles than a Goniostat jig may be adequate solution.
