Title: a new way to oil the leather homing wheel
Post by: Ken S on November 11, 2015, 02:14:12 PM
I recently made some sweet potato chips. Dipping the chips in olive oil proved too oily. I switched to a silicone pastry brush with improved results. With a Tormek:

Place a very small amount of mineral oil in a container. Use a small paint brush , half inch to an inch or twelve to twenty five mm. Apply a very small amount of oil to the leather. Very small, less than you think you need. Adding more is easily than removing too much.

I use a rag.  It puts on a nice even coat of oil.  Pretty much the same as using a brush I suspect, just another way to accomplish the same thing.  Umm... this is for oiling the honing wheel, not sure if the rag would work on potato chips.  :)

Good post, Mark. Two ways to reach the same goal, not overhauling the leather wheel.
