Title: Planer / Jointer Knives Water shield modification
Post by: msennott on September 27, 2015, 06:42:40 PM
I was sharpening some jointer knives this morning and was annoyed at the water dripping onto the T7 body, running down to my bench, and dripping onto my feet. So, I made a solution that I thought I would share with you guys.

Take a 6-1/2" X 5" piece of galvanized sheet metal (I used 18ga) and put a bend in it as shown in the diagram (I just clamped it in my wood vise and gave it a little pressure):

I then put a couple of rare-earth magnets on the underside and used them to attach it to the posts of the jig:

It does a good job of funneling the water back to the reservoir.

Hope you find this useful.
