Title: Sharpening Carbide Tipped Drill Bits
Post by: ProShop on March 22, 2006, 06:07:29 AM
Hi
I run a Bowling Pro Shop and I've been searching for a way to accurately sharpen my drill bits. They range in size from 9/16? all the up to 1 3/8?. As much as I would like a simple answer like buying a Drill Doctor they only sharpen up to ??. So after searching and trying to avoid buying some professional grinder that cost upwards of $3000 I?m trying to establish if it?s possible to use the Tormek Sharpener on my bits. There are two carbide flutes that require sharpening. Has anybody used the Tormek successfully on large drill bits?

Here is an example of the type of bits I need to sharpen.

The TORMEK stone will not cut carbide.  Sorry.
