Title: Motor bushings
Post by: Steven L on September 18, 2005, 06:14:49 PM
What are the motor bushings (listed as part number 3121 in the replacement parts diagram)? Is this the motor's brushes? Do they ever need to be replaced?

They should be called motor mount bushings. The motor is a totally enclosed fan cooled induction motor with sealed ball bearings. It has no brushes or bushings. The listed part is a nylon bushing that pops into the motor mounting arms that the motor mounting pin goes through.  Turn your machine upside down and you'll see them pressed into the cast aluminum arms that come off the motor. Under normal use and conditions, these would never need to be replaced.
