Title: A problem and solution I just discovered.
Post by: thecabinetguy on October 21, 2013, 10:09:29 PM
Hi all,

As a new tormek user, I have the T7 with the HTK 705 kit. Part of my tooling is a set of beefy mortise chisels which are thicker than the square edge jig can support.  My worry was finding a method of safely squaring and setting my mortise chisels.

After a while, I realised there was a short tool jig in the HTK kit. this actually allows me to set  my mortise chisels comfortably and keeps them in place.

now for a little request for the designers of tormek products. Please could you produce a larger capacity version of the square edge jig? something that can take upto a 3/4" thick steel or there abouts? this would be a huge help.

cheers.

I second that- its very hard to square a chisel in the square edge jig.

i bought a machinist square and square the tool edge to the stone, of course making sure your stone is trued
