Title: 2000 Leather Wheel Repair
Post by: DavidHall on August 15, 2013, 07:11:35 PM
The honing wheel on my 2000 has just started to separate at the seam.  The ends still align with no gap if I push the loosening end down.  I'd like to simply re-glue this seam and was wondering what type of glue to use?  I think this occurred because the machine was stored unused for a few years in a dry hot Southern California garage and the leather dried and shrunk a bit.

I would think contact cement.  But, you might be happier in the long run by replacing the wheel.

Thanks Mike - tried contact cement and it seems to be repaired and functional.  Have a few hand-plane blades to hone, and will let you know how it holds up.
