Title: Newbie Question
Post by: tris on August 01, 2012, 08:56:01 AM
Hi
I've just joined the Tormek clan with the purchase of a secondhand 1206

I had a go last night and now have chisels like razors - at least by my current standards  ;D

Should have a knife jig arriving today and have being doing  bit of preparatory reading of the manual and got myself a bit confused.

To get the standard 30-40 degree edge angle while measuting off the main surface of the knife blade what angle do I set the angle setter to. Manual appears to contradict itself or I'm just a bit slow this morning  :o

Welcome to the forum, Tris.

Most knives have a "double bevel".  Therefore, the cutting angle is divided in half, half for each bevel.  Watching this demonstration video should help you get up to speed.  It's done by the forum moderator, Jeff Farris.
