Title: Sharpening a curved blade
Post by: Jernej on May 22, 2011, 11:35:04 AM
Hey guys! I'm very pleased with my Tormek T-3. I can get my knives hair shaving sharp (I'm using the knife jig)
Alas, I have problems with sharpening blades that are a bit curved.

I can sharpen a half of the non serrated edge to razor sharpness, but the upper half remains dull. I can't even develop a burr. http://www.coltelleriacollini.it/intershop/Large/7727.jpg

Like I said, I have the knife jig, but following the curve of the blade is not working.

Check the videos and instructions for sharpening free hand.  Fine grade the grindstone and have the wheel turning away from you.  With a little practice you'll be able to develop a burr.
