Title: TT-50
Post by: Steve Brown on April 07, 2011, 10:31:56 PM
What is the purpose of the allen head fitting on the top of the diamond/copper truing device on the TT-50? Is that used just to replace the whole truing stone when it wears down, or is there some other purpose? Doesn't look like it should be adjusted until the diamonds wear out, is that right?

Steve,

You're right, it is not an adjustment, just the lock that holds the tip in place.

Jeff,
I know this is tough, but under "normal" use, is there an approximation as to the life expextancy of the diamond/copper portion of the device. Put another way, after say 150 truings of the wheel, am I maybe half way through the useful life of the tool? Thanks,
Steve

Normal life would be several hundred uses.

Steve and Jeff,

How about the approximate life expectancy of the average user? :)

I suspect our TT=50s will be included in our estates!

(Good questions, Steve, and good answers, Jeff.)
