Title: Can my wheel be damaged by cold?
Post by: eivarson on October 30, 2010, 12:37:31 AM
I use my T7 at the local farmers market and had a question about the wheel.  When you use it, it gets wet (duh :))  But what if it then freezes?  I keep it in my garage, which is not insulated and therefore freezes.  Can that damage the wheel?

It takes a lot of cold to freeze the stone to the point of cracking, but it can happen. It isn't likely at 32ºF, but becomes more likely as you approach 0ºF. If you can get it inside a mudroom or somewhere that doesn't freeze, it would be advisable.

A stone that is completely dry can be stored in extreme cold without problem.
