I have an older 2000. I got it out and went to true the wheel over the weekend and I noticed the grind wheel, the honing wheel, and the profiled wheel all wobble. I haven't used it for a few years (4 kids...no time to work with wood), and I don't remember it doing this before I put it away for hibernation. I'm assuming this is something I should be concerned about. Any thoughts? Would a new shaft fix this?
Thanks,
David
If it has been sitting around for that long it could just be the plastic bearings that need replacing.
With the weight of the wheel on one end it may have flattened the bearing and not allow the wheel to rotate properly causing the wobble.
Is this something I can do myself and where do I get these bearings?
Yes it is easy to do.
Depends on where you are as to where your local supplier is.

That's great info. I truly appreciate it.
Is this the part: "Nylon bearing"? I found it here: http://www.sharptoolsusa.com/index.php?target=part&partsProdID=193&catID=6 (http://www.sharptoolsusa.com/index.php?target=part&partsProdID=193&catID=6)
Yes, that's the part. Don't be surprised, though, if your mainshaft is rusty. When you remove the mainshaft to replace the bearings, I would advise you to not remove the grindstone from the mainshaft. See if you can pull out the mainshaft still attached to the grindstone.

Great info. Once I receive the bearings and begin the work, I'll definitely look at that. Thanks for the help and advice.
