Thanks, for the information guy's.

Mr. Farris sorry for spelling your last name wrong on my post.

So I used two tablespoons soaked on a tiny cloth and spread it evenly as I could over all the leather surface.
Hopefully this is enough.
It is thinly coated in my estimate, but it is all over the leather.
Not just in one spot in the middle of the wheel.

I resisted the urge to put more on, Thanks to your guy's comments.
A NEW leather honing wheel soaks up the oil big time as it is dry as a bone.

Impregnate the wheel with oil......., Impregnate is not a quantity.

I looked on the forum and there is no description as to the amount to use?
Or how to apply it?
There was a warning not to saturate the wheel.

I tried a 20 drops of oil and it was no way near enough, the wheel was dry as a bone.
The oil did not spread all over the wheel.

I noticed  Mr. Faris applying PA Honing compound on the center of the wheel.
My guess is that once you have enough oil on the wheel the compound will spread out evenly?

I am going to try two tablespoons of Norton Light Mineral Oil.
Going to use a small cloth and try to spread it all over the wheel, not just in the middle of the wheel.

Senior Moment going to call Wolfgang at Advanced Machinery tomorrow and ask him?

General Tormek Questions / Re: Honerite Gold
January 17, 2014, 03:54:26 AM
Rob, thanks for reply, I didn't buy it.  I will wait and see.

Ken, before I bought my unit from Advanced Machinery, I looked at a lot of T7's and they all showed rust on the frame.
So, I am going to try and make sure that I dry the Tormek before I put it away.
I always clean my working tools and keep them oiled so they don't rust, Thanks.

Herman, that's why in the end I decided to buy a new model, for the Stainless Steel Shaft.
I also heard the Powder coat would help prevent rust.
Thanks for replying to my question.

Rob, Ken and Herman Take Care, Bernard

General Tormek Questions / Honerite Gold
January 16, 2014, 05:12:35 AM
Just got my Anniversary Tormek T7 from Advanced Machinery, SWEET.   :)

Their Tormek Price List has Honerite Water Additive listed at $29.50.

Does anyone add this to their water for the grindstone?
It is supposed to prevent rust.
Wonder how this affects the grindstone?

Thanks, Bernard

General Tormek Questions / Re: SuperGrind 2000 vs T7

My Anniversary model is being delivered tomorrow.
I bought all the attachments.
Cost me more but I got the latest and should not have any problems.

My son bought me the Tormek.
I saved my money over the last year to purchase a Tormek.
It will be worth the wait.
I heard the new Powder coat will help prevent rust

I saw a lot of used Tormeks that were rusted.
How do you know if the motor has been abused.
Are the warantees transferable?

I have been burned by Craigslist.
I was sold a stolen camera.
Craigslist did not help one bit and neither did the police.
Don't pick up the unit at McDonalds, go to their home.
Using a camera or your cell phone, get a photo of the seller,
his license and his car with license plate.

Buyer be ware of Craigslist, yes there can be great deals if your lucky.

General Tormek Questions / Re: power inverter help
January 13, 2014, 04:39:02 AM
There are two guys here in Northern California, Monterey and Santa Cruz counties respectively.
Who use Solar panels to drive their Tormek T7, they make no Noise.
They have two Solar Panels 3x4 feet each hooked up in series.
They also use a modified sine wave inverter, I don,t know what size?
They work at the local Farmers Markets for 4 hours a day and are constantly sharpening all day.
So, I know it works.

The only issue I have is that they use a modified sine wave inverter.
I am am going to buy a True Sine Wave inverter, cost more but worth it.
I am going to use the inverter for my Travel Trailer and laptop so, that's why I want a True Sine Wave Inverter.

My Anniversary Model T7 is coming this Wednesday, can't wait.
Tormek brochure say's it runs on 200 watts.
So my two 200 watt Solar Panels should work.

I have seen setups with Solar Array Panels and a Power Inverter, driving a Tormek T7.
They work good together.

I would get a True Sine Inverter, expensive but well worth it, for laptops.

I hope this question is okay to ask?

My Christmas gift from my son is a Tormek.

Problem is I can't seem to find a company that bundles the Anniversary Model with,
HTK 705 Handtool kit, TNT 78 Woodturner Kit, SVH 320 Planer Blade Jig and SVM 100 Small Knife jig.

Any help will be appreciated.
Hope to place an order on Monday.

Thank You Bernard.

Herman,

This is my first post.

The white plastic material looks like Teflon to me.

I will be ordering my Tormek T7 on Monday.
