Title: Scraper Blade Sharpening
Post by: sjmbyrne on December 18, 2003, 11:35:31 AM
I have a Lie Nielsen Large Scraper which came with a 45 degree bevel, and instructions to hone in the same manner as for a bench plane, and then to burnish. This is quite different than for a standard scraper; has anyone any views as to whether such an approach is good or not, and whether it could and should be extended to hand scrapers?

Hello.  In David Charlesworth's second book (Furniture Making Techniques, Volume Two), he covers such a topic in depth, in the article entitled "Keeping Trim".  I highly recommend both of his books.
