Sorry if I was not clear: I do not use the sides of the wheel but the usual circumference after having made sure it was perfectly true (using the Tormek Truing Tool TT-50)

Ah I see.
Thank you for the clarification.

@LeU

My intention is also to thin done my Japanse kitchen knife on the side of the diamond wheel.
But first q bit more research.

I sharpened for many years on bench stones that works but takes, depending on the steel at least an hour, polishing not included.

Hello Ken,

Thank you for the link.

I indeed saw the video.
Also his video about dressing the stone is very extensive and informative.

I stumbled 2 days ago on an awesome Live and pre recorded youtube channel called Findon Knife Sharpening.
Featering Baz.

I am not new to knife sharpening, been sharpening knifes for about 15 years now but never on the Tormek.
This channel is an very good starting point for me.

Baz is sharpening up to 10+ knives a session describing everything he does.

For me as an Tormek newbe this is an information treasury !
The channel and Baz has a great vibe to !

I just found this video on the Tormek channel.
This knifemaker seems to thin out (makes the shape) of his knives on the side freehand with diamond wheels.

Yes that MB 100 option might be a start.
I do know that Japanese Knife grinders use water wheel with huge diameters.

Good question Ken, I am a bit puzzled mezelf. My Gut want things fast and I own the MB-100.
I guess I am not a totally rational person. I made the decision on availability right now and the looks of solidness on the schleifjunkies website.

Can you follow me better now ?

Vertical front base from schleifjunkies has been ordered 5 minutes ago.

I do have Diamond wheels but I do own an MB-100 also.

The solidness as seen on the website pleases me.
I will inform you all about my findings once I have been working with it.

I thank you all very much for all the helpful information today and so far.

Many thanks and greeting from the Netherlands,

Merlin

Hello,

I have considered making my own.
The thing is that I have not the precision tools to make with in the tolerances I would like to use it in.

Best option is probably to by one which is made by someone who really is in to making it flawlessly with the right tools.

Hello Hello,

The German FVB looks Solid.

https://schleifjunkies.de/en/product/vertical-front-base/

I think this will be the best option for me.

If anyone has even a better suggestion please let me know.

Hello All.

Dan: It is arrow 1 on your photo which is catching.

I do have Tormek MB-100 Multi Base is there a way I can use this attribute ?

In what way does the new Jig MB-102 function differently then the MB-100 ?

Many thanks !
