Sorry.

Tormek said KJ-45 can be used at 10mm thick blade, but I found it's impossible.

Personally, I get to a maximum of 9,2 mm. But then it does not clamp optimally. Then I have to go back to 6 mm.

So? What?  Would you have complained if Tormek had said "up to 9.2mm?  It is what it is, be happy that it does what its primary purpose is - self centering - up to 9.2mm.  If you can't be happy with that, take initiative, substitute longer screws.

Rick
Quality is like buying oats.  If you want nice, clean, fresh oats, you must pay a fair price. However, if you can be satisfied with oats that have already been through the horse, that comes at a lower price.

I think the OP's problem was that the max width was less that 5mm instead of 10.

Are the metal screws unscrewed to the max so that the jaw width is at its max as well ?

Easily clamped an object 9mm wide...

It will clamp something 10mm wide, but at that point the jaws are actually angled out from the blade, so contact isn't going to be great.  The thickest blade I have at the moment is 6.9mm and I can clamp that no problem.  It's rock solid.

I just clamped a 10 mm Allen key in the KJ45. Not centered but clamped tight nonetheless.
Tried to attach a photo but 'file size' was 'too large'.
Can someone please tell me how to attach a photo?

Not to state the obvious, but you have to resize your photos if you want to post them.   ;)

I'm curious, not critical. My thickest knife is my Mora Garberg. It is 3.2mm thick. Has anyone actually tried to sharpen a 10mm thick non tapered knife which would not fit in the KJ-45?

I would be interested to see a knife with a 10 mm spine.

There seems to be a niche trend lately of folder makers making RIDICULOUSLY thick knives.  Here's one that's just about 10mm.  https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=YmFbvYxOGuU

Hello Adam,
thank you for the Youtube address. The comment in the video is clear: Not for practical use, just for fun!
