Thanks Ken, I'll keep that in mind. The only problem is that this learning process cost some money:). That's it. I know Tormek is a very good machine, although it has some minuses, but it has much more pluses. For my shop is the best tool now. Later I will invest in some other machines.

General Tormek Questions / Mobile Tormek!

Hi again,

I am planing to buy a new Tormek T7 because I am about to start a mobile sharpening unit. My question is about power. What is in your opinion the best solution? I think a gas power generator would be good but I don't know yet how big this should be, or what technical characteristics it has to have.

Hi, Tormek site was not working again here for a few days.

As I mentioned I started a sharpening shop on 17 June. Since than I am sharpening mostly kitchen, restaurant, chef knives and scissors (hair style and tailor mostly). People also come to me with clipper blades and meat grinder plates and blades. I also had a few axes to sharpen (small size). I had also to sharpen some hard steel planer blades, but I did not brought yet the attachment, so it did not came out very well.

I don't have many customers yet, so there is not too much work. There are days I am using Tormek for 4-5 hours but also days with max 1 hour of using it.

I made the truing process only 4 times until now, First it was needed a deeper truing because when I sharpened scissors I used to to do it more on the sides of the stone so it became curved. But was a maximum of 2-3 mm deep cut. Since I observed that the stone is wearing so quick I did not made any truing, I try to sharpen as straight as I can to preserve it. I know, by the book I have to do the truing even if is just a little curved, but I don't know what to say. I am little bit concerned. With this wearing I barely earn the money for buying a new stone. Importer told me it has to last minimum one year. What Am I doing wrong?

So, my stone is wearing to quickly I think, so any help is useful. Thanks.

Hi. I don't know why but the forum did not worked here for a few days. I called a plumber and he used some tools. It wasn't difficult. He did it in one twist.

Ken S, you said you can give some advice about the stone wearing. It keeps going down quickly. It is now at 205 and it is only 3 weeks since I have it. I will try to post some pictures because I observed something strange. The stone is leveled but although it is not in the line with the Tormek case. I need an advice on how to post the picture here.

Thanks.

As I said in a previous post I just opened a sharpening shop. I am kind of newbe so I have many questions as new tasks are coming in from clients.

So ... how do you sharpen with Tormek T7 scissors like the one in the picture, especialy the right side (thumb) blade.

Yes,it is the round one. I just brought Tormek T7 2 weeks ago. When I said "local" I mean national importer because there are no local sellers. I am from Romania, Baia Mare an I just opened a small knife sharpening shop. The importer is from Romania, Sibiu, about 400 km from my town. I called Friday and they said they have no clue, it must unlock easily, "try use some "tools"". I invested some money and time in advertising the "grand opening" and being forced to stop the activity now, after only 8 days does not look good. Not to consider other loses. I thought this kind of situation might occurred until now, so someone can give me a hand. I will cal back to importer tomorrow to see what other options I have. Actually Tormek T7 is functioning and I am pleased, but the problem is that my SG250 stone it is now on 220 level in only 8 days of working with it. So I thought I mounted it wrong. This is when I tried to unmount it (after I read instructions) and realized it is stuck.

Thanks anyway for quick answers, regarding that it is Sunday. I will inform you after I will talk again tomorrow with the importer.

Yes, I followed instructions. I did everything by the book. But it does not help. I turned the weel in oposite direction but it wont unlock. I then tried many other different ways but still locked. I called my local suplier, they said never meet problem like this. No one can help me. I have the Tormek T7 since 10 days and I use it 3-4 hours a day.

Hi, I need urgent help. I need to change stones on T7 but the EzyLock is blocked. I tried almost everything, every possible tool used for unloking but it doesn't work. So, I can not dismount the stone. Is it someone who had the same problem? Any ideas? Thanks.
