I'm a home based sharpener. Dehumidifier dries the water from the trough. Scrape out sludge with 2" putty knife. Save gallon plastic jugs for refills.I put a drop of dawn dish soap once a month.

Just did my 2000 last week. Take off leather wheel, reach under the top and find the first hole. After that you can locate the others easy. Need correct phillips screwdriver, self tapping screws are tough to turn in. I put a drop of loctite on each, not taking them off.

Try a good leather shop. Might be able to resurface with new leather

I took my wifes collapsable milk crate. Think home depot or amazon.

I'm a newbie also. I put painters tape on the blade and mark with a magic marker. It's easier to reclamp. I some times mark the blade and always clean the blades with spray alcohol.

No guarantee on bent knives. Some people insist to try, give them my hardwood bender and say, go for it.

Keep the machine covered. I bought mine used and the strop was dry, oiled with sewing machine oil. Waited a couple of days and touched it up . Added stropping past been going great.

Why not continue the threads down the shaft by using a die?

I go to hobby lobby, buy plastic sheets perferated. Cut to size and tape shut. You can see the knife thru the plastic holes.
