I've been reading all I can and finally completed my setup with help of my close friend. I just sharpen as a hobby and something to do in my retirement. Though some would be interested in my setup.
Welcome to the forum, Stovepipe. Nice set up!

That is ENTIRELY TOO CLEAN!
Very nice setup! I'm impressed!
Is the riser for the right side T8 water trough 3D printed? (I use two stacks of two hockey pucks each).
WOW! VERY nice!!

Its the regular T8 water trough. I just put a couple rubber blocks under the wheel. Problem I'm having with it is the water from the knife drops on the drive wheel and doesn't turn. I made a "Rube Goldberg" AL cover when sharpening that solves the issue, just looks like hell.

Right, I initially thought I could use that as an argument along the "look darling, some hobbyists have much more stuff than I do", but she'd immediatly point out how professional and clean this all looks.
Great job !!!
Congratulations on your work station. Order and cleanliness first of all.
How did you make the cover to protect the drive wheel from splashing water? Interested in a solution.

I just folded some aluminum foil and had the water run into the lower pan. I'll get a picture of it, however, kind of embarrassed. I'll comeup with a permanent solution in the next few days.

There are "Drip Trays" (https://schleifjunkies.de/en/produkt/drip-tray-for-t8-in-connection-with-vertical-front-base/) being made (or you can print your own if you have a 3D printer).

That's awesome, thank you very much!!!!!
Or if you don't have a 3D printer or a friend who has one:

Unfortunately the shipping from Germany isn't cheap.

Wow, you seem about as serious about fishing as you are about sharpening !

I found a kid on Craigslist advertising3D printing. He made it for pretty much material cost.

Terrific idea.........I'm too old to start learning another machine,
I took advise and found 3-D printer on Craigslist. $4/hour $24 total and $10 shipping.............terrific addition to my setup. Thank you so much.
Excellent! Handle it very carefully- it breaks easily. Ask me how I know... :-\
Another caveat on the 3D printed drip tray on Thingiverse by Paul. Spacing is a bit off on a T7. Note the gap on the left, between the stone and the tray. It barely clears the right side with a leather honing wheel, but will rub if it is a Tormek CW-220 composite honing wheel ( which is 3.6mm wider).
Now someone needs to design one that covers the leather honing wheel, or has an attachment for same, for those of us who run two wheels. :)

There was a mod in that YouTube video I linked earlier... https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=A97KhtUZfFc
Clever!
I'm having the drip tray 3D printing file modified to include the groove. As soon as this local ME student completes the modification I'll provide to anyone that wants it. Not sure how to post a link for the file but hopefully someone will let me know when I have the modified file.

If it's under "1024KB" you can attach the file to the post as a zip file. if it's bigger than that, you have to host the file somewhere else and then just copy/paste the link in the text box. (That's why there's links to "thingverse", "printables", etc.).
It occurred to me that another way to protect the honing wheel would be to wrap it in rescue tape, or another brand of self-fusing silicone tape. If you haven't used it, it's some pretty amazing stuff. It's stretchy and it sticks, or "fuses" to itself, forming a water-tight bond. Once you fit it, it essentially becomes a big rubber band that can be removed and replaced on the honing wheel as needed. Couldn't find 30ml for an exact fit, so I ordered 1.5" and will trim to fit.

3D Anvil - Issue I have isn't water getting on the honing wheel rather the water dripping down on the drive wheel when the honing wheel has been replaced with another grinding wheel using the extended shaft. The water reduces the friction between the drive wheel and it just spins without turning the grinding wheels.............after reading your post a few times I understand what your trying to do and the silicone tape makes perfect sense. I was just a bit premature in my response. Sorry.
Yeah, the idea is that the honing wheel protects the drive wheel, while the silicone tape protects the honing wheel.
I've attached the drip tray model along with the protective shield I had modeled. The drip tray has a grove cut into it and the shield should fit into the groove. I just sent it out to be printed and should receive next week. Once received I'll post pictures. In meantime I've posted the zip files of each so those that want can have printed.
What days do the cleaning girls come in???
Digging the microscope!
I have mine out on a daily basis, its great to get "up close and personal" with your work.
Stunning setup
Congratulations
