Title: Vegetable Peelers?
Post by: RedpentacleB on September 04, 2020, 10:12:30 PM
Has anyone attempted sharpening a vegetable peeler on the Tormek? I searched these forums and youtube and couldn't find anything. I have a drawer-full of peelers that could use some sharpening, but I don't really know how to sharpen this tool.
Thanks,

Red,

I have not actually tried it, however, these are what I would use.

I Use a round ceramic stick and sharpen from the underside, then take the burr off the top.

A triangle ceramic like a spiderco set up works real well too.

Some of my steel hones are diamond conical shaped at the tip. I use that just to push up a burr from the inside (remove and flip the blade over) then reinsert the blade prior to steeling the burr off. This has benefited many peelers in my commercial kitchens over the years.
