Hey Jeff,
Still love my tormek after 2 years.  one question:  In the book, the honing compound is listed as 6000 grit.  however I've found that it polishes better than my 9000 grit water stone.  what is the grit size of the honing compound in microns?

General Tormek Questions / Keep it running?
April 25, 2004, 06:56:23 PM
Jeff,

I just read a wooodworking forum post that recomended you should keep the machine running for 2-3 hours after using it in order to dry the stone evenly.  He says that if you don't do this, you'll end up with an egg shaped stone and have to true it more often.  Any truth to this?

Sincerly,

General Tormek Questions / tool vibration?
January 25, 2004, 08:33:14 AM
Just got my tormek yesterday, and already put a scalpel edge on everything I can find.   My wife even aproves of the cost now that she saw the edge it can put on her $500 Japanese kitchen knives. ;)  Thanks for the awesome tool and support Jeff!  I really appreciate people that stand behind thier products.

sometimes when grinding chisels and plane irons(toward the tool),  the tool begins to vibrate.  This cannot be good for the edge and I wonder what I'm doing wrong and how to correct it.  apologies in advance if i missed something in the book or other topics posted here.

much appreciative,
-Ryan
