Title: Sharpenig 1 3/4 Roughing gouge
Post by: Bladerunner10k on March 06, 2023, 06:45:59 PM
Just wondering what holder to use for this large tool. It won't fit the standard holder. I have T8 withall the kits.  Thanks for any assistance.

Welcome to the forum, Bladerunner.

1 3/4" is a large roughing gouge! My largest roughing gouge is a Sorby 1 1/4" which fits easily in the SVS-50 with the open seat. If your larger roughing gouge won't fit, I would either use the SVD-110 platform jig or rest your gouge on the support bar set fairly close to the grinding wheel. If your roughing gouge is just slightly too large to fit, you might try filing the SVS-50 or the open seat. If you go this route, don't file too much away.

Keep us posted.
