Round Skew

The handbook and the Woodturner's Instruction Box barely touch on round skews, is there any particular thing I need to know about this type of Skew sharpening.

If you have an SVS-50 that is less than 4 or 5 months old, you'll have an easier time with round skews than you will with an older SVS-50.  In the last few months, the closed seat (skew clamp) has been bored so that the clamp can come down onto very small tools, including round skews.

What I do with round skews is to put the tool in the jig, with very light pressure, set the jig on the Universal Support, then press the bevel onto the grindstone.  This will align the tool properly into the jig.  Now, tighten the clamp securely, adjust for bevel angle, and you're ready to sharpen.
