Large/tall knives in t2

So has anyone managed to use the t2 on tall blades? I have one knife that's 18" long and about 3" and tapers to around 2 1/4".

Also where can I source a replacement  plastic guide. I may or may not try and modify the one it came with. Haven't received the sharpener yet so not sure.

T4 or 8 is not ideal as I don't feel like messing with water trough etc. I usually use my edgepro with diamond plates for my smaller knives. The t2 looks like a quick and easy way to get a decent edge.
The large knife I would "gasp" run a carbide sharpener down the edge. Don't judge me lol.

Also knife in question in case anyone was wondering.

Welcome to the forum, Steven.

The replacement plastic guide is only available as part of the unit. Unfortunately, the kit costs $89.95. Here is a link:

Frankly, I do not think the knife jig, either as-is or modified, will work well with your pizza knife.

Either the T4 or T8 can be used without the water trough when using diamond wheels. While Tormek prefers to use them with water and ACC, they also acknowledge that the diamond wheels can be used dry.

Another constraint is the length of the universal support. Tormek's longest support bar, the US-430, is 17 1/8" long. It would be iffy at best with your 18" long knife.

If you only have one knife of that size, how many smaller/shorter knives do you sharpen? As much as I like the Tormek, your pizza knife doesn't seem to fall within normal size parameters for it. However, I may be overlooking something.

Please keep us posted.

Yea I kinda figured that Ken. Not a huge deal that I  can't use it on that knife. But should suit me well for all my other knives. Wish tormek offered a taller guide.

I can't find all the parts of the T-2 jig right now, but pretty sure I was able to pull off the plastic guide clip (which is what restricts the knife size), and just lean a knife against the side of the guide.  May have to manually set the angle, but I think it's doable.

Edit:  I found a post that might help...  https://forum.tormek.com/index.php/topic,3371.msg20652.html#msg20652

Nice find. I looked through the posts but missed that one. Deff looks doable. And use it as a slight guide thanks. Then possible maintain the proper bevel not completely freehand.
