I just learned ( very late in finding out that Vadim passed away ) - Very sad news as we communicated many times.
That answers one question on why I didn't get any responses by email from him.

My question is this. Apparently, since he is gone I get no responses from Knife Grinders at all.
I have ordered many Tormek wheels them over the last few years.

Are they still in business?

I ordered two wheels. One they still owe me for many months now, and as you know the payments are upfront.
I can not get ANY response from them. None. Many emails I sent and no response. I have given up on getting any answers from them.

I am in need of the wheel I already paid for and I now need another.
I am afraid to try to order anything else. The website still has really old dates on them getting wheels in.

Does anyone know if it's safe to order, as every email I send goes into a black hole?
Any information about KnifeGrinders would be appreciated.

Thanks
-James Anding

General Tormek Questions / Knife Grinders Information Update.
« on: May 27, 2022, 07:41:56 am »
Dear members of the Knife Grinders community;
Here is all of the important information that you need to know about the business since the passing of Vadim.

Our website has become un-accessible, therefore we can no longer update the website in any way possible.
No we are not going to be selling any of Vadim's used or personal equipment, yet we are still selling some of the items listed on his website; This includes:
- Honing Coolants (plenty left)
- Stands for grinder (running out)
- Dual-Fit CBN wheels (plenty left)
- Knife deburring books (infinite amount)
- Softwares (infinite amount)
- Diamond suspension spray (sent only if emailed through Paypal)

All of our other items (that are not listed above ^^^) are no longer available and will not be re-stocked.
I check all orders made through the KG website once a week and post them out every two weeks or so, so some delays are to be expected as I am now handling the business all by myself whilst still studying in high school.

Additional info: Yes we have ran out of FVBs and square-edge wheels, the same goes for felt wheels and their spacers. If any other information is needed please e-mail me at daniel.kraichuk@gmail.com .

Regards,
Daniel.Vadimovich.Kraichuk

(I,e: Vadim's son).

Please note the email address. I have emailed at that address and received replies. The Knife Grinders business for most of the products is essentially closed. I would inquire of Daniel about any refunds.

Thanks Ken for the response.

I had no idea how the business was affected.
Really sad to hear about Vadim, he taught me so much over a few years.
I knew something was wrong, just couldn't figure out what.

James,

I believe Wootz' (Vadim's) major contribution to sharpening was his practical research. We are indeed fortunate that he left us his deburring book and his instructive videos. Sadly his life and work were cut short. He mentioned in his last video that he had a diamond wheel in beta testing. Who knows what his researcher's mind would have continued to produce.

I appreciate the fact that although his technique sometimes differed from traditional Tormek technique, he was always respectful toward Tormek. I also think it is commendable that he provided employment for those with special learning situations. His passing is a great loss to all of us.

I commend his son, Daniel, for trying to wind down the business gracefully.

Ken,
I was stunned when I heard he passed. I feel like I lost a friend and a mentor.
Many times we exchanged emails about sharpening as I own a sharpening shop in Plano TX. and he was a great help to me.

I'm not going to ask his son for a refund for the wheel that wasn't shipped. I must have been caught right in the middle
of that when I ordered and I totally understand now how it happened now.

I hope his son Daniel one day recovers from the shock and does well.
I will miss Vadim, like you said though, we still have a wealth of videos and information he left us all.
