ST-250 upgrade possible?

I own a ST-250 (the one driven by a electric drill). Now I could get a  SA-250 in bad condition but with a good motor. Can I put the motor into the ST-250 without problems?

How about this workaround, buying on Ebay :

AC Voltage Regulator £ 2 (ensures the torque)  +  Laser Tachometer £ 6  to ensure the wished amount of RPM.
A motor could be recycled from e.g. kitchen equipment or any other kind of machines.

I am also going to rebuild an old Tormek st250 which originaly is delivered without a motor.
Want to keep it on a low budget and use my money for jigs instead, so I will find someone how can make the
- universal support
- horizontal base
- vertical base believe could be made with a shaft coupling where the inner diameter is 12 mm

Welcome to the forum, Kennt.

I like to see old tools restored and put back into service. In this case, I do question the practicality of the project. A new T4 can be purchased for $400 US. Or, I have recently seen new T7s for sale for $600 online. Admittedly, these costs are doubtless more than your desired budget, however, you would end up with an all Tormek product with extended warranty.

Just my two cents.
