a dealer question for Stig

I recently purchased a new Tormek accessory (XB-100) through Rockler on eBay. My preferred local dealer, Hartville, did not carry it. The ebay/Rockler price was $27, the standard dealer price with free shipping. (I did pay sales tax.) I know Rockler is an authorized dealer.

My question is: I see a lot of new Tormek items for sale on eBay. Prices vary from the standard retail price upward. Would a new Tormek T4 or T7 purchased on eBay have the standard 7 or 10 year guarantee? Many of these eBay dealers are not listed on affinity tool's online dealer list. is there such a thing as a gray market for Tormek (like for cameras and lenses)?

Thanks,

Ken

Does a new in box Tormek, come with a Warranty registration card?
A few years ago, they tried to go to the dealer only thing, where you couldn't find them on Amazon for instance.  They are back on Amazon now, both from authorized dealers, to Amazon itself, to at least in one case, a damaged freight reseller. (local to me)
At some point I expect this will stop again, but I believe in part, they allowed it to deal with competition from out of patent copies.

Yeah you know Tormek have reached sharpening nirvana when you get a prosthetic hand as part of the standard package :/)

Interesting thoughts; good reply, SADW.

Hi,
If someone registers their machine according to the guidelines on the Tormek website and has a proof of purchase from a dealer then the warranty is valid.

Thanks, Stig. That is reassuring. I have had no problems ordering online, however, I am spoiled having several dealers nearby, especially during the show discount days.
