Honing wheel scraping (or not?)

Hello I am a new Tormek user and I was hoping to benefit from other people experiences with the honing wheel. I was wondering is it a good idea to scrape of the black viscous mix of steel and honing compound that builds up on the honing wheel after quite a bit of honing?
