I just purchased the scissors jig.  I have not seem scissors disassembled before sharpening with the Tormek.  Is this the standard practice?

Also, for scissors which are in need of minor sharpening, is it advisable to start with the course grade?

Thanks.

You can sharpen them assembled, or not.  Start with the course grade, finish with the fine.  No honing on leather wheel, though.  Check out You Tube. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=HGFeBd8ZspM

Use the wheel course and leave at that. The tiny serrations act like corrugations, which helps most scissors grip.

Depends on the type of scissor as well.

I never find the need to take scissors apart.
